Yukon Conservation Society

Conservation led by people who live here

Yukon Conservation Society is a registered charity rooted in Whitehorse. We combine field knowledge, community relationships, and careful advocacy so wildlife, waters, and homelands across the Yukon stay healthy for generations ahead.

Who we are

A charity built on patience and place

For decades, YCS has shown up where decisions are made — and on the land where evidence is gathered. We are staff, volunteers, and members who believe conservation works best when it listens first.

Our programs span research and monitoring, public education, outreach in schools and communities, and policy work that ties science to the values Yukoners hold for caribou, salmon, clean water, and intact landscapes.

Join us at an event or explore volunteer opportunities or meet our team in Whitehorse.

How we work

Grounded in science, carried by community

We aim to be steady rather than loud: clear briefings, respectful dialogue, and work that can be checked against what is happening on the territory.

  • Watch the land and water

Field seasons, partnerships with knowledge holders, and careful documentation help us speak to change as it unfolds — not after the fact.

  • Teach and invite

From classroom visits to public talks, we invest in literacy about Yukon ecology so more people can recognize what is at stake.

  • Advocate with care

When laws, plans, and projects need scrutiny, we bring briefs, questions, and alternatives — always tethered to the wellbeing of wildlife and communities.
