The Yukon Conservation Society
We stand up for Yukon’s lands, animals, and ecosystems to help tackle the climate crisis and keep the Yukon green & sustainable for future generations.
Since 1968, the Yukon Conservation Society (YCS) has been a grassroots non-profit focused on preserving and protecting the Yukon’s ecosystems through advocacy, research, and education.
Central to our work is the recognition that that our well-being as a territory and a people is ultimately dependent upon maintaining fully functioning and healthy ecosystems.
Our Mission
The Pillars of Our Mission
Conservation
Researching wildlife populations, advocating for an environmental focus in land use planning, and sustaining the Yukon’s landscapes for future generations.
Sustainable Mining
Serving as a ‘watchdog’ over the mining industry by participating in environmental assessments, monitoring project proposals, and fighting for sustainable mining that provides economic benefit without posing ecological risk.
Clean Energy
Leading the efforts for a clean energy transition in the Yukon by installing renewable heating systems, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and providing local organizations with carbon offset opportunities.
